For StatusCake users who need the alert to keep ringing
StatusCake Alternative: An Alternative to StatusCake With Phone Calls That Repeat Until Recovery
StatusCake places one phone call when a test goes down and does not repeat it, and its SMS alerts do not repeat either. If that single call or text arrived at 3am and nobody woke up, TrackDowntime is built for exactly that gap: every number on the endpoint is called and texted, again and again, until a check succeeds.
Phone call and SMS alerts on Professional at $99 a month for 25 endpoints. Enterprise at $299 covers unlimited endpoints. No per message charges on either.
Add an endpoint
- Alert channels
- Phone call, SMS, email
- Call repeats
- 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 min, then up to 96 h
- Numbers per endpoint
- Several, each called and texted
- Message billing
- None, alerts are never metered
Paste the URL, create your account, and the first check runs right away.
Which StatusCake alternative fits a team that needs a phone to keep ringing
If you left StatusCake because an outage went unanswered, look for a monitor that repeats its phone call until the site recovers and does not meter texts. StatusCake sends one call per down event, at most one call per 5 minutes per account, and does not repeat SMS. TrackDowntime calls and texts every listed number on a schedule from 0 minutes to 96 hours, with no credits to run out. If you left for more monitors per dollar, StatusCake is already hard to beat, and this page says so.

What changes when you move alerting off StatusCake
StatusCake is a capable monitor with a generous free tier, page speed tests and multiple test locations. Teams rarely leave it because checks were wrong. They leave because an alert went out once, nobody saw it, and the outage ran until a customer noticed.
A phone call that repeats while the site is down
When a check fails, TrackDowntime places an automated call, sends SMS and sends email, then repeats all three at 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes, then at 2, 4, 8, 24, 48 and 96 hours while the endpoint stays down. Recovery goes out by SMS and email so the person who was woken knows it is over.
Every number on the endpoint gets the call
Put the primary and the backup on-call numbers in the phone field, separated by commas. Each one is called and texted on every round, rather than one contact per integration or one call per account every five minutes. The second person does not depend on the first person picking up.
No SMS credits and no top ups
StatusCake includes 75 SMS credits a month on Superior and 400 on Business, one credit per text, and its terms say monthly plan credits do not roll over. On our Professional and Enterprise plans calls and texts are simply included, so nobody takes their number off an endpoint to save the balance.
Rechecks before anyone is paged
A timeout is rechecked twice, 5 seconds apart, and a DNS timeout three times, 10 seconds apart, before an incident opens. A wrong status code opens one on the first check. That keeps a repeating call from turning into a repeating false alarm, which is the fear most people have about switching it on.
An incident record with a start, end and duration
Every outage is stored with its start time, end time and measured duration, next to the status code and response time of each check. History is kept 30 days on Starter, 90 days on Professional and with no limit on Enterprise, and you can export it to CSV for a client or a host.
A flat price for unlimited endpoints
Enterprise is $299 a month for unlimited endpoints with phone and SMS alerts included. For an agency or a SaaS team with hundreds of URLs, the monitoring bill stops moving each time a client or customer instance is added, and the alert bill never moves at all.
Moving from StatusCake in an afternoon
Step 1
List the tests that matter at night
Open your StatusCake uptime tests and pick the ones where an outage costs money or a client relationship: checkout, login, API, the homepage of each paying client. Those are the ones to move first. Page speed and domain tests can stay where they are.
Step 2
Add each URL with its expected status code
Create an endpoint per test, set the status code the URL should return, a timeout between 5 and 60 seconds, and whether redirects should be followed. Add custom headers where a route needs a token.
Step 3
Put every on-call number on the endpoints
Enter the phone numbers that should ring, separated by commas. Each number receives the call and the text on every alert round, so there is no contact group or integration to build for voice.
Step 4
Run both monitors side by side for a week
Keep StatusCake running while the new monitor builds its history. Compare what each one caught, then switch StatusCake's alerting off for the moved tests once you are satisfied the calls reach the right people.
Does StatusCake have phone call alerts?
Yes, StatusCake offers phone call alerts, set up as an integration and attached to a contact group. According to StatusCake's own knowledge base, repeat alerts do not apply to phone calls, so you receive one call when a test goes down, and only one call per 5 minutes is sent per account even if several tests fail at once.
That design is deliberate. It stops a wide outage from producing a flood of calls. The cost of it is that the call is a single chance. If it lands while the phone is on silent, charging in another room or on a Do Not Disturb schedule, nothing else rings. StatusCake's knowledge base also states that email and mobile push alerts repeat but SMS alerts do not, so the text is a single chance too.
Many StatusCake users close that gap by routing alerts into a paging tool that handles escalation. That works, and for a larger on-call team it is often the right answer. For a small business, an agency or a team of two or three engineers, it means a second subscription and a second system that has to be configured and paid for just to make a phone ring more than once.
How much does StatusCake cost?
StatusCake's pricing page lists four plans. These are the figures shown there in September 2026, with the annual price as a monthly equivalent next to the monthly price.
| Plan | Price per month | Monitors | Interval | SMS credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 | 5 min | None listed |
| Superior | $20.41 annual, $24.49 monthly | 100 | 1 min | 75 |
| Business | $66.66 annual, $79.99 monthly | 300 | 30 s | 400 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Superior includes 1 team member and Business includes 9.
Two contract details are easy to miss. StatusCake's pricing FAQ says all subscriptions auto renew and points to clause 8 of its terms, which asks you to cancel at least 70 days before the renewal date. Payment by invoice is only available on Business yearly and above. If you are planning a move off an annual plan, put the cancellation date in the calendar now rather than a week before renewal.
On price per monitor, StatusCake is cheaper than we are, and it is not close. Superior gives 100 monitors for about $20 a month. Our Starter is $29 a month for 5 endpoints and Professional is $99 a month for 25. If what you need is a large number of checks with email alerts, StatusCake is the better buy and you should stay.
When TrackDowntime is the better StatusCake alternative, and when it is not
Switch when the problem is alerting. If an outage has already gone unanswered because the one call or the one text was missed, if you need two or three people to be called on every round, or if you have been rationing SMS credits, our plans solve that directly. The same applies when you run hundreds of endpoints and want a flat monthly figure: Enterprise at $299 covers unlimited endpoints with calls included.
Stay with StatusCake, or pick another tool, when you need what we do not sell. TrackDowntime checks from a single location, so there is no multi region confirmation. It has no public status page, no page speed monitoring, no domain expiry monitoring and no server resource monitoring. It does not read page content, so a page that returns 200 with an error message on it is not caught. StatusCake offers checks from multiple locations, page speed tests, domain and SSL monitoring and server monitoring, and on Business a 30 second interval, which is faster than our 60 seconds.
A lot of teams end up running both: StatusCake for page speed and domain checks, and TrackDowntime on the ten or twenty URLs where an outage at night needs a phone to ring until someone answers.
What an unanswered outage actually costs
The case for a repeating call is arithmetic. Take an online store doing $40,000 a month, roughly $55 an hour averaged over the month and considerably more at peak. A checkout that fails at 1am and is found at 8am is seven hours of lost orders, plus the paid traffic that kept landing on a broken page, plus the customers who tried once and bought elsewhere.
Against that, the difference between a $20 monitor and a $99 monitor is small. The question is not which tool is cheaper per check. It is how many hours an outage can run before a human knows about it, and whether the tool keeps trying until one does.
Who switches from StatusCake to TrackDowntime
Store owners who lost a night of orders
The checkout went down after midnight, StatusCake sent one text, and the first person to notice was a customer in the morning. Monitor the checkout and the product pages at 60 seconds and have every phone ring until it is back.
Agencies running client sites
A client found their own outage before the agency did. Put the account manager and the developer on each client's endpoints, keep the incident log per site, and export it when the client asks what happened.
Small on-call teams without a paging tool
Two or three engineers do not need an incident platform to get woken up. Every number in the phone field is called on each round, and the calls repeat until the endpoint recovers.
Teams rationing SMS credits
If you have removed people from contact groups or turned off SMS on noisy tests to protect a monthly allowance, move those endpoints to a plan where texts are not counted.
SaaS products with an uptime SLA
Watch the login, the API and the health route, and keep each incident's start, end and duration as the record behind the monthly availability number customers ask about.
Businesses with hundreds of URLs
Per customer instances, regional sites and client portfolios push monitor counts up. Enterprise covers unlimited endpoints at $299 a month with calls and texts included, so growth does not change the bill.

Questions people ask before replacing StatusCake
Does StatusCake have phone call alerts?
Yes. StatusCake supports phone call alerts through an integration that you attach to a contact group. Its knowledge base states that phone calls do not repeat, so you receive one call when a test goes down, and only one call per 5 minutes is sent per account. Teams that need calls to continue until someone answers usually add a paging tool or use a monitor that repeats calls itself.
Do StatusCake SMS alerts repeat?
No. StatusCake's knowledge base says email and mobile push alerts repeat, but SMS alerts do not. Each text uses one SMS credit, paid plans include a monthly allowance (75 on Superior and 400 on Business on the pricing page), and monthly plan credits do not roll over. Extra credit packs of 50 to 500 can be bought in the dashboard.
How much does StatusCake cost per month?
StatusCake Superior costs $24.49 a month billed monthly or $20.41 a month billed annually for 100 uptime monitors at a 1 minute interval. Business costs $79.99 monthly or $66.66 a month annually for 300 monitors at 30 seconds. There is a free plan with 10 monitors at 5 minutes, and Enterprise is custom priced.
What is the best alternative to StatusCake?
It depends on why you are leaving. For more monitors per dollar, UptimeRobot and StatusCake itself are the usual answers. For incident management and on-call schedules, a platform such as Better Stack fits. For phone calls that repeat until the site recovers, with texts never billed per message, TrackDowntime is built for that specific job.
Is StatusCake better than UptimeRobot?
Neither is better across the board. StatusCake includes page speed, domain and server monitoring and gives 100 monitors on its entry paid plan. UptimeRobot has a larger free tier of 50 monitors and sells voice calls on credits. If phone alerts that keep ringing matter most, compare how each one bills and repeats calls, which is where they differ most from us.
How do I cancel a StatusCake subscription?
StatusCake subscriptions auto renew. Its pricing FAQ points to clause 8 of the terms and conditions, which asks customers to cancel at least 70 days before the renewal date. If you are moving to another monitor on an annual plan, note that date early and run both monitors in parallel before switching alerts off.
Can I monitor more than 100 sites without paying per monitor?
Yes, with a plan that prices endpoints flat. TrackDowntime Enterprise is $299 a month for unlimited endpoints, with 60 second checks, phone call and SMS alerts included and incident history kept with no limit. StatusCake's Business plan covers 300 monitors, and beyond that its Enterprise plan is priced on request.
Will a repeating phone call create false alarms?
Not if the monitor confirms failures first. TrackDowntime rechecks a timeout twice, 5 seconds apart, and a DNS timeout three times, 10 seconds apart, before it opens an incident. A wrong status code opens one immediately because it is not ambiguous. Calls only repeat while the endpoint is still failing and stop as soon as a check succeeds.
Make the next outage impossible to sleep through
Add the URLs that matter at night, set the numbers that should ring, and keep StatusCake running beside it for a week. The first endpoint takes about a minute.
