For Pingdom customers who need a phone to ring
Pingdom Alternative With Phone Call Alerts and One Flat Price for Every Endpoint
Pingdom alerts by email, SMS and app push, draws texts from a monthly allowance and prices every check on a sliding scale. If an outage ever waited until morning because nobody read the text, or your check count keeps pushing the bill up a tier, TrackDowntime calls every number on the endpoint until the site recovers, at a flat price.
Professional is $99 a month, or $49 billed yearly, for 25 endpoints at 60 second checks with calls and SMS. Enterprise is $299, or $149 yearly, for unlimited endpoints.
Add an endpoint
- Alert channels
- Phone call, SMS, email, Slack, webhook
- Message billing
- None, no monthly SMS allowance
- Numbers per endpoint
- Several, each called and texted
- Price at 650 endpoints
- $299 a month flat, $149 yearly
Paste the URL, create your account, and the first check runs right away.
Which Pingdom alternative fits a team that needs calls and scale
If you are leaving Pingdom because alerts went unanswered or because the bill grows with every check, pick a monitor that places voice calls itself and prices endpoints flat. Pingdom has no voice call on any tier and caps SMS at 1,500 a month. TrackDowntime calls every attached number, repeats until recovery, and covers unlimited endpoints for $299 a month.

What changes when your uptime checks move off Pingdom
Pingdom still does more than we do in several areas, and the comparison table below keeps every one of them. These six are where a team that mainly needs to know a site is down, and needs someone awake to fix it, gets more here.
A phone call, not only a text
Pingdom sends email, SMS and push notifications to its mobile app. There is no voice call, so teams that need a phone to ring bolt on a paging tool. Here the automated call is part of Professional and Enterprise.
No SMS allowance to ration
Pingdom's entry tier includes 50 SMS a month and the allowance tops out at 1,500 however large the plan. We never count messages, so three people texted on every round of a long outage costs nothing extra.
Every number rings, again and again
Add every on-call number to the endpoint. Each gets a call, an SMS and an email at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes, then at 2, 4, 8, 24, 48 and 96 hours until the check passes.
Flat pricing past 100 endpoints
Pingdom's price per check only falls from $1.80 to $1.30 between 10 and 1,000 checks. Enterprise here is one price for unlimited endpoints, so an estate of 650 URLs costs the same as one of 150.
Rechecks before anyone is woken
A wrong status code opens an incident on the first check. A timeout is rechecked twice, 5 seconds apart, and a DNS timeout three times, 10 seconds apart, so a single slow packet does not ring anyone's phone.
An outage log you can hand to a client
Every incident is stored with start, end and measured duration, for 30 days on Starter, 90 on Professional and without limit on Enterprise, with CSV export for SLA reports and service credits.
Switching from Pingdom in an afternoon
Step 1
Export your uptime checks
List the Pingdom uptime checks whose job is to say up or down. Transaction checks, page speed tests and RUM stay in Pingdom if you rely on them.
Step 2
Add each URL with its on-call numbers
Create the endpoint, set the expected status code, the timeout, redirect handling and any custom headers, and type every phone number that should ring, separated by commas.
Step 3
Run both for a week
Keep Pingdom running while TrackDowntime checks the same URLs every 60 seconds. Compare which outages each caught, and whether anyone actually picked up.
Step 4
Drop Pingdom to the tier you still need
Once alerting runs here, cut Pingdom to the checks you keep for transactions or page speed. Pingdom's tiers step up in blocks, so pruning 10 checks can move you down a whole tier.
Does Pingdom have phone call alerts?
No. Pingdom alerts by email, SMS and push notifications to its iOS and Android apps, and none of its Synthetic Monitoring tiers includes an automated voice call. Teams that need a phone to ring usually forward Pingdom alerts into an incident management platform, which is a second subscription with its own per seat price.
SMS is also rationed. The 10 check tier includes 50 texts a month, the 100 check tier 350 and the allowance stops at 1,500 on every tier from 5,000 checks up. Each text to each phone counts, so an endpoint that flaps overnight with three people on the list can use the entry allowance in a single night. We worked through that arithmetic in Pingdom SMS alerts and credit limits, and the way our phone call downtime alerts escalate is laid out on their own page.
Why is Pingdom so expensive at scale?
Because it is priced per check and the price per check barely falls. Pingdom's slider runs from $18 a month for 10 uptime checks to $149 for 100, $680 for 500 and $1,295 for 1,000. That is $1.80 per check at the bottom and $1.30 at 1,000, so the bill grows almost in a straight line with your estate. There is no step between tiers either: needing 210 checks means paying for 300.
Annual billing takes about 8.3 percent off every tier. Users are unlimited on every plan, which is a genuine advantage over tools that charge per seat. The full 22 step table, with the annual price and the SMS allowance at each step, is in our Pingdom pricing breakdown.
When Pingdom is the better choice
Keep Pingdom if you use more than the up or down signal. Its transaction checks script a login or a checkout, its page speed monitoring tracks load times over weeks, it checks from many probe servers in several regions, it publishes status pages and it sells Real User Monitoring on a separate slider from $18 a month. TrackDowntime checks from a single location, has no status pages, no transaction or page speed checks and no content match assertion.
Keep it too at small sizes if a text is enough. Pingdom's 10 checks for $18 a month and 25 checks for $40 cost less than our Professional plan at $99, and if one person reads alerts during working hours you do not need a call. The case for us is narrower: a team that needs several people phoned on every outage, or an estate large enough that per check pricing hurts.
What the switch costs at 25, 100 and 650 endpoints
At 25 endpoints Pingdom's 25 check tier is $40 a month with 100 texts and no calls. TrackDowntime Professional is $99 a month, or $49 billed yearly, with calls and SMS that are never counted. Pingdom is cheaper there, and the extra money buys the phone call. At 100 endpoints Pingdom is $149 a month and our Enterprise is $299 monthly or $149 yearly, so on annual billing the two cost the same and only one of them rings a phone.
The lines cross at about 200 endpoints on monthly billing. At 650 endpoints Pingdom needs its 750 check tier at $999 a month, or $915.25 billed yearly, against Enterprise at $299 or $149 yearly for unlimited endpoints. Agencies and SaaS teams with hundreds of client or tenant URLs are where the flat price pays for itself. See plans and pricing for every limit.
Who switches from Pingdom to TrackDowntime
Teams that missed an outage at night
The text arrived, nobody woke up. A call that repeats every few minutes to every number on the list is the fix.
Agencies with hundreds of client sites
Each client URL gets its own alert numbers, and every site fits one Enterprise plan at $149 a month billed yearly.
Stores that sell around the clock
Checkout and product pages checked every 60 seconds, with the owner and the developer both phoned until the store is back.
SaaS teams with an uptime SLA
Incidents are logged with start, end and duration, 90 days on Professional and unlimited on Enterprise, ready for the monthly report.
People rationing Pingdom texts
If you have ever removed a number from the alert list to save SMS, move the critical URLs to a plan where messages are not counted.
Teams paying Pingdom plus a pager
If a paging subscription exists only to turn Pingdom texts into calls, one tool that calls directly may replace both.

Questions people ask before leaving Pingdom
What is the best alternative to Pingdom?
It depends on why you are leaving. If you need transaction checks and status pages, look at other full synthetic platforms. If the problem is unanswered alerts or a bill that grows per check, a flat per endpoint monitor with voice calls fits better: TrackDowntime Professional covers 25 endpoints with calls for $99 a month, Enterprise unlimited for $299.
Does Pingdom have phone call alerts?
No. Pingdom sends alerts by email, SMS and push notifications to its mobile apps, and its pricing page lists no voice call on any Synthetic Monitoring tier. Teams that need a phone to ring route Pingdom alerts into an incident management tool, or use a monitor that places calls itself.
Is Pingdom still free?
No. Pingdom's pricing page shows paid tiers only, starting at $18 a month for 10 uptime checks, or $16.50 billed annually, plus a free trial covering Synthetic Monitoring and Real User Monitoring. The free Pingdom website speed test is a separate public tool and does not alert you when a site goes down.
How many SMS alerts does Pingdom include?
It depends on the tier: 50 a month with 10 checks, 100 with 25, 200 with 50, 350 with 100, 1,000 from 500 checks and a ceiling of 1,500 from 5,000 checks. Every text to every phone uses one, so a list of three people uses three per alert.
Is UptimeRobot cheaper than Pingdom?
At small sizes, yes. UptimeRobot has a free plan and paid plans from about 9 euros a month, far below Pingdom's $18 entry tier. UptimeRobot meters SMS and voice calls with prepaid credits, though, so the cost of paging several people is separate. Our UptimeRobot alternative page compares the two. We laid those credit prices out in our UptimeRobot SMS and voice call credits guide.
Can I run TrackDowntime alongside Pingdom?
Yes. Both check from outside your servers, so nothing in your stack changes. Many teams keep Pingdom for transaction and page speed checks and move the up or down alerts here so the phone rings. Running both for a week is also the safest way to compare them before you cancel anything.
How often does TrackDowntime check compared with Pingdom?
TrackDowntime checks every 60 seconds on Professional and Enterprise and every 5 minutes on Starter. Pingdom uptime checks run down to a one minute interval. If you need 30 second or faster checks from many regions, neither is the right tool, and a multi location platform is the better buy.
Does TrackDowntime have status pages like Pingdom?
No. TrackDowntime alerts your team and records every outage with its duration, but it does not publish a public status page. If customers expect one, keep Pingdom's status page or pair TrackDowntime with a status page tool.
Make the phone ring on the next outage
Add the URLs Pingdom watches, attach every number that should ring, and run both for a week. The first endpoint takes about a minute.
