Email, Slack and webhook alerts on every plan, phone call and SMS from Professional. Plans from $49 a month.
UptimeRobot has the lower entry price at 9 euros per month billed annually for 10 monitors, versus Oh Dear's $17 monthly for 2 sites. Across the listed sizes from 10 to 200, UptimeRobot remains the lower priced uptime option, while Oh Dear bundles broader site checks. Oh Dear sends SMS through your own paid Vonage account and has no native phone calls; UptimeRobot meters SMS and calls with credits. Choose based on check coverage and who must answer the alerts, while allowing for the different currencies.

The two vendors quote in different currencies. Oh Dear figures here are USD excluding VAT. UptimeRobot showed euros on the read, and other regions may see a different currency, so we have not converted anything. Its credit packs are priced in dollars even when the plan is billed in euros.
Keep the annual commitment separate from the monthly comparison. UptimeRobot's advertised 9 euro starting rate requires annual billing, while its monthly starting rate is 10 euros. Oh Dear's $17 starting rate is monthly. If you expect the portfolio to change during the year, compare both the available capacity and the amount you commit upfront before choosing an annual term.

Annual billing costs ten times the monthly price, giving two months free. There is no free plan. The trial lasts 10 days without a card, and new customers have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Every tier includes unlimited users and the same features. Uptime checks run every minute, with failures confirmed from a second location. SSL and certificate transparency, broken links and mixed content, DNS and blocklist checks, cron and scheduled task monitoring, performance tracking, unlimited status pages, and branded monthly client reports are included.
Supported notifications include email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Discord, Telegram, Pushover, ntfy, webhooks, PagerDuty, and Opsgenie. Our Oh Dear plan and cost per site breakdown explains the allowance in more detail.

Solo notify seats are an add-on, so a low subscription price does not settle the cost of reaching several people. Team includes 3 notify and 3 login seats, while Scale includes 5 seats. The UptimeRobot plans and monitor pricing guide covers the tier choices.
Monthly cost at common portfolio sizes
This table uses paid plans with monthly billing, before messaging charges. It assumes one Oh Dear site or one UptimeRobot monitor per website. UptimeRobot's Free plan covers up to 50 monitors at five minute intervals with no included SMS credits, but does not provide the paid check speeds compared here.
| Websites | Oh Dear plan | Monthly USD | USD per site used | UptimeRobot plan | Monthly EUR | EUR per monitor used |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Freelance | $55 | $5.50 | Solo 10 | 10 | 1.00 |
| 25 | Studio | $109 | $4.36 | Solo 50 | 22 | 0.88 |
| 50 | Agency | $165 | $3.30 | Solo 50 | 22 | 0.44 |
| 100 | Portfolio | $275 | $2.75 | Team | 41 | 0.41 |
| 200 | Scale | $439 | $2.20 | Scale 200 | 77 | 0.385 |
At 25 websites, half the Solo 50 allowance goes unused. For Oh Dear, monitoring servers alongside websites consumes the same allowance. Neither count measures equivalent coverage automatically; decide which checks each client needs before calculating your margin.
Is Oh Dear cheaper than UptimeRobot?
No, Oh Dear is not the cheaper basic uptime subscription at the listed sizes from 10 to 200 sites, although the prices use different currencies. Its value comes from including broader checks, unlimited users, status pages, and client reports rather than winning the base price comparison for a single uptime monitor per website.
An agency buying those capabilities together may prefer Oh Dear despite the higher subscription. For basic availability checks, UptimeRobot is the lower cost starting point. Compare the work each subscription replaces, rather than treating a site allowance as identical to a monitor allowance.
Does Oh Dear send SMS alerts?
Yes, Oh Dear sends SMS alerts through your own Vonage account, formerly Nexmo, and Vonage bills you separately for those messages. The monitoring subscription does not include native phone call alerts, so teams that require calls need another service or an existing paging integration alongside their Oh Dear account.
There is no verified Vonage tariff in this comparison, so no SMS price is assumed. Budget for that separate bill and account administration. The Oh Dear alternative for phone alerts discusses the practical difference when calls matter more than broad site diagnostics.
How much do UptimeRobot SMS alerts cost?
UptimeRobot SMS alerts use 1 credit to most countries, including the US, 2 to some countries, and 5 to Russia. Credits cost $3 for 10 through $100 for 1,000, while voice calls use 2 credits each and the confirmation SMS for adding a contact consumes another credit.
| One time credit pack | Price USD |
|---|---|
| 10 | $3 |
| 100 | $15 |
| 200 | $25 |
| 500 | $55 |
| 1,000 | $100 |
Packs do not renew. Included balances range from 10 to 20 credits on Solo, 30 on Team, and 50 to 200 on Scale. Keep subscription, contact access, and actual message consumption separate when budgeting. The UptimeRobot SMS and voice credit calculation guide explains the billing model.
For a worked example, assume 3 people each receive one SMS and one call per incident, with all texts using 1 credit. Each person consumes 3 credits, so one incident consumes 9. Eight incidents in a month consume 72 credits, exceeding Team's 30 by 42.
That shortfall is the real cost. A 100 credit pack at $15 covers 42 extra credits a month for a little over two months, so budget about $6 to $7 a month on top of the Team subscription. Every repeat alert and every new contact confirmation adds to it, and a bad month with 20 incidents needs 180 credits, six times what Team includes.
Where each service wins
Oh Dear wins on features per dollar for agencies that do not need calls. Its complete feature set and unlimited users suit shared client portfolios. Broken links, DNS changes, certificate problems, scheduled task failures, and monthly reports give the agency more to deliver than an availability result alone.
Agencies reselling monitoring inside client care plans also have to collect those monthly fees. If staff must chase unpaid care plan invoices while maintaining client sites, include that administrative work in the service margin. Our website monitoring guide for agencies covers organizing the monitoring side of those plans.
UptimeRobot wins on entry price and fast intervals. Solo covers basic paid monitoring cheaply, Team moves to 30 seconds, and Scale reaches 15 seconds. Its native SMS and voice channels avoid opening a separate SMS provider account, provided credit billing and recipient seats fit your team. The UptimeRobot alternative comparison helps assess the alerting tradeoffs.
When neither fits and TrackDowntime does
If several phones must receive repeating calls until recovery and alerts must not be metered, TrackDowntime addresses that requirement. Our higher subscription buys a different alerting model rather than a broader set of checks.
| TrackDowntime plan | Monthly USD | Yearly USD | Endpoints | Interval | Alert channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $49 | $288 | 5 | 5 minutes | Email, Slack, webhook |
| Professional | $99 | $588 | 25 | 60 seconds | SMS and phone calls to every listed number |
| Enterprise | $299 | $1,788 | Unlimited | 60 seconds | SMS and phone calls to every listed number |
Starter has no SMS or calls. Professional includes 90 days of history. Alerts are never billed per message. On plans with SMS and calls, every listed number is contacted at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 minutes, then 2, 4, 8, 24, 48, and 96 hours while the outage continues, stopping on recovery.
Read how downtime alerts by phone call and website monitoring SMS alerts work, then compare the TrackDowntime subscription plans.
The limits matter. TrackDowntime checks from a single network, with no multi-location confirmation, status pages, keyword or browser checks, broken link monitoring, or DNS monitoring. Choose Oh Dear for agency site care features and UptimeRobot for inexpensive, fast availability checks. Choose TrackDowntime when reaching every listed phone repeatedly without message charges is the requirement that decides the purchase.
